I was very impressed by Google CEO Eric Schmidt´s performance during his keynote at Mobile World Congress yesterday evening. He bravely included live demonstrations of some of Google´s technology, including image search, voice search, and even an optical character recognition search in which a section of a restaurant menu in German was scanned by an Android phone, which then proceeded to serve up an English translation of the dish in question a few seconds later.

Some do, for sure. Take Turkish operator Turkcell. Last time I looked, its database of subscribers who had positively opted in to mobile marketing campaigns numbered 7.6 million. Brands can target offers at the database, and, in return, the subscribers receive a little free credit, though not much.
